Projects
Lenteur (Slowness)
A series of monochrome diptychs. Each diptych consists of one image taken from nature and one image taken of individuals in a museum setting. The project explores conceptions of seeing and being seen. The work asks the viewer to slow down and consider relationships between constructed and curated natural environments.
Walden: Chords
This project consists of a series of monochromatic diptychs that pair images of Walden Pond in Concord, MA, with images of art objects taken in the Harvard Art Museum. The images are intended to promote dialogues between nature, art, and people. The American Transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau wrote about these relationships during his residency at Walden Pond.
Some Remedy
This is a photojournalistic project about a family's journey to find treatment for a family member suffering from breast cancer. The series documents a family journey from North Carolina to Texas for treatment. The project was published in The Oxford American's Eye on the South photo series.
Residues and Remnants
In this project, I uncover my ancestry and engage in a dialogue across time and space with ancestors real and imagined. The work consists of digital collages as well as site-specific placements of images in nature. The work juxtaposes images of real/imagined ancestors with images of landscapes where they once lived.
